So I didn’t feel too great today. Russia has taken a lot
out of me. Being sick and dealing with the hot, humid weather hasn’t been a
good combination. I decided to take the day to relax. It didn’t even seem worth
it to leave the ship! Every time I go outside I just start sweating and feel
sticky.
After breakfast, I went back to bed and took a nap. Then
I did some reading. Then I went to lunch, and they had tomato soup with grilled
cheese! It was wonderful! Such a treat. After lunch, I actually started feeling
productive, and I cranked out a three page architectural history paper. Go me!
Then Mari came to my room, and we talked for a while. Right before dinner,
Courtney came back. I’m so glad she didn’t die in Moscow! She had some insane
stories to tell us about her adventure though. I’ll give you the quick rundown:
her and Fasil missed their train, they got ripped off buying bus tickets, they
took an 11 hour unair-conditioned bus ride, they traveled around Moscow (and
loved it), Fasil ended up having to wear Courtney’s leggings to get be able to
enter some churches, people though Fasil was gay, Courtney’s dress was too
short, people thought Courtney was a prostitute, Fasil found some pants, Courtney
put her leggings back on, they visited some Cathedrals, they missed their
train, they found another train, Courtney woke up to a Russian guy sitting at
the foot of her bed in the train, and then they made it back to the ship. Crazy
stuff man. And she told the entire story giggling with a huge smile on her
face. I swear, I’ve never met anyone so positive!
Courtney always makes me look really lame because she has
crazy adventures like this seriously all the time. Anyways, we then went to
dinner, and I’ve basically been doing nothing since then. So all in all, not a
bad day but not really a good day either.
